Meet Farnaz and How Culture Impacts Couples Work with Farnaz Safaei

Farnaz Safaei is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist with a Master's degree in Clinician Counseling from Point Loma Nazarene University. She has experience working with adults and adolescents with severe mental illness in an Intensive Outpatient Program at Sharp Mesa Vista Hospital. Throughout her career, she has supported individuals, families, and couples in skill acquisition to increase their coping skills in managing mood, achieving life goals, and creating long-lasting relationships. She is an Iranian immigrant and provides therapy in Farsi with a special understanding in Middle Eastern culture and dynamics.

Here is what to expect on this week’s show:
– The different reasons people might seek out couples therapy, which may be different than what is commonly assumed.
– The stigma around mental health in some cultures, and how that may impact people's willingness to seek help.
– The different ways that therapists can provide reassurance to clients about confidentiality and privacy.
