Relationship therapy needs to be more inclusive!

Joe Winn LICSW is a clinical social worker, AASECT certified sex therapist and certified supervisor of sex therapy. He completed his MSW at Boston University School of Social Workers in 1995 and has maintained a private practice since 2003. He has worked with a variety of individuals and couples addressing domestic violence, sexual assault and abuse, substance use and abuse, and end-of-life issues.

Joe’s clinical interests are centered on working with LGBTQIA + relationships, consensual non-monogamy, and the BDSM & kink community. He brings together the skills of scene negotiation and consent into general sex and couples therapy. Joe is a member of the training faculty with The South Shore Sexual Health Center in Quincy Massachusetts, an AASECT-approved training program for clinicians pursuing sex therapy certification. Joe has also lectured nationally and internationally on topics such as problematic sexual behavior, applying queer theory and anti-racist practice in psychotherapy & making psychotherapy therapy more accountable to LGBTQIA + and other marginalized communities.

Here is what to expect on this week’s show:
– Creating a “stackable” model of couples therapy to apply all kinds of relationships outside the societal norm.
– Talking about complicated relationships and sex topics in accessible, easy-to-understand ways.
– The time to educate yourselves on all kinds of people, so as to not overshadow the needs of the people sitting in the clients' chair.
– Comfort in working with sex therapy and creating an inclusive environment.
